The Assault On Reason: A [Brief] Review

Tue May 22, 2007 at 09:40:04 AM PDT

Just finished scanning T.A.O.R. and all I have to say is WOW! This book is a cornucopia of ideas, all eloquently gathered together to describe a political landscape motivated by the politics of fear and an economy of influence focused on the value of men rather than laws.

Reason's paternal and inevitable tone is spot on.  It's not an abrasive voice, but rather, a comforting one that radiates hope in light of the seriousness of the subject it covers.

A chorus of thinkers support Gore's argument that today's politics can be an anomaly if we choose to go back to a time when intellectual dialogue is the standard and the marketplace of ideas is king. The last page of Reason:

We Are Americans...

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 06:12:12 PM PDT

I didn't write this, a dear friend did.  Regardless, I felt that these powerful words needed to be shared with my friends here at DKos.  I value and treasure our community and look forward to a renewed will for our just cause.

Dear Friends -

I sit in my office and hundreds of e-mail messages pour in. So many of you are despondent, drained, frightened and, literally, sick. So many say you want to leave the country.

But we are Americans. Moreover, Americans who are progressive, intellectual, socially conscious members of the political, media, academic and creative communities, and thus we bear a special burden of responsibility for the behavior of our society.

Wed Jul 07, 2004 at 08:31:26 PM PDT

I would NEVER think of reducing the amount of time, love, and devotion that I spend here at dailykos with all of my fellow kossacks.

however, anyone know of a NYC political blog that covers items that concern gothamites? i have read journals.  i have read news sites.  i havent been anywhere that kicks ass. if nobody knows of a blog, anyone care to collaborate on one??? i think that there is a MAJOR need that must be filled.

I know people who know people who know people that could possibly get us start-up fundage.  and i KNOW that ppl would read and pay attention.

Ideas?

Not strict with the meter here, and you shouldn't be either.

A Prez by the nickname of Gip,
had caused our finances to tip.
He doesn't recall'
his ignoring us all.
On jellybeans he never did slip.
