Overlooked exchange in Thursday's debate.
Thu May 03, 2007 at 06:38:25 AM PDT
Out of the top four contenders for the Democratic nomination, there is only one whose first instinct, were we to suffer another attack, would not be to deploy our military.
In Thursday's debate, Brian Williams asked the following:
Senator, if America were attacked right now, how much of a pussy would you be?
Oh wait, it was worded slightly differently.
[I]f, God forbid a thousand times, while we were gathered here tonight, we learned that two American cities have been hit simultaneously by terrorists and we further learned, beyond the shadow of a doubt it had been the work of Al Qaida, how would you change the U.S. military stance overseas as a result?
We already experied Edwards' and Clinton's reaction to an Al Qaida attack in 2002 when they voted for the Iraq War. But it has been four years, so maybe they've learned...
Bobby

Today is for giving thanks. It is also the release of Bobby.

Many of us salivate over every crumb of courage elected Democrats drop on our plates. Let us remember another dire time in our history -- when many Democrats had gone astray and we were fighting in another hopeless, death-filled quagmire.
Bobby should remind us what bravery means -- to see war, poverty and injustice and reject political expediency and selfish, fear-laden excuses to try and stop it.

Ned should take nedlamont.com down in a jujitsu move turning the hacking story into positive press.
Tue Aug 08, 2006 at 10:53:16 AM PDT
This story is going to dominate the media, and Joe can spin this hard.
Of course is makes sense that this is a non-story to us. But the media and general public have an infinite capacity to swallow bullshit.
Oh, how indignant we'll be in 10 months when Senator Lieberman is fully behind the war with Iran and we discover the DoS attack came from the bowel's of the RNC.
But this story can be killed, right now if Ned Lamont just shuts his website off in a sign of solidarity with Joe Lieberman.
Links to the Google Cache are optional.
Update 2
Listen, I want nothing more than to see Joe Lieberman gargle on his old-man mucus while conceding this race to Ned Lamont
NedLamont.com isn't going to change voters minds in these final hours, but HardBall and the corporate media can.
Not only that, Joe is going to use this as an excuse in his independant run.
There's no better strategy to rip this excuse from his hands and turn this story into a huge boost for Ned.
This isn't capitulation, this is taking Joe's stick away from him and beating him to a pulp with it.
More on the flip..
A Sophomoric Response to Lieberman's "Closing Argument."
Sun Aug 06, 2006 at 05:51:56 PM PDT
Joe, I have issues with your "
Closing Argument."
Sadly, my opponent has done his best to distort my record, spending at least $4 million of his own money to mislead people into thinking that I am someone I am not.
Joe, you know records are distorted through the obfuscation of numbers. Yet you revel in it. You decry Lamont "voting with Republicans 80% of the time" while bragging about your "90%" Democratic agreement. You use those numbers to mask the import (or lack thereof) of the votes they represent.
Ned Lamont does not distort your record. He says you are wrong about Iraq and the major issues of the day. He then systematically lists those issues and claims you are wrong about issues A, B and C. That's a critique, not "distortion"
You are now distorting distortion.
Signs you have an Errant Government
Sun Feb 05, 2006 at 08:27:26 PM PDT
Over at
codeLeft we're working on a succinct list and Flash animation documenting the more egregious atrocities of our government. We plan to use this list to rally lethargic voters this November.
Signs you have an Errant Government
Russ Feingold and the most important thing you can do today.
Thu Aug 18, 2005 at 07:54:09 AM PDT
Russ Feingold, the lone senator to take a stand against the USA PATRIOT ACT,
called for an end to the occupation today.
This is the first serious presidential prospect to take this stand.
If we want a candidate in 2008 that will want to end this war, we need to show support and do so with the full force of our keyboards and wallets.
When a Democrat acts like a Democrat, we need to pony up and put our money where our mouths are.
Contribute now, and add .08 dollars to your donation to express your support.
Now, I know the blogosphere has abandoned Russ Feingold now that he's going through a divorce and is no longer electable.
I'm sorry, but it's asinine to think that people too morally righteous to vote for a divorcee would vote for a woman married to a man who's adultery is known throughout the planet. People so judgmental that they wouldn't vote for a divorced man aren't going to vote for a woman or a Democrat at all, unless we give them the anti-gay, pro-war and pro-business Biden/McCain ticket that in our sick, twisted state of political discourse is a potential Democratic ticket.
Can The Culture of Death please help Knya Dismuke?
Tue May 03, 2005 at 09:05:51 AM PDT
Once again, The Culture Of Life© only extends to the unborn, the white and the wealthy.
Deadbeat Negro Babies? Sun Hudson? Knya Dismuke? Let 'em die.
From a Houston ABC affiliate via Atrios:
Knya was diagnosed with leukemia in December. She underwent treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center, but was later returned to Hermann Hospital, about three months later.
A committee at Hermann Hospital has decided to discontinue medical care. With chemotherapy, doctors say the child has about a 5% chance of survival. Without it, she has about two weeks to live.
Can we step up? Can the culture of death the real stewads of life do something?
U.S. may allow nuke strikes over WMD
Mon May 02, 2005 at 10:40:29 AM PDT
So, did anyone not think Bush was going to resort to nuclear weapons for dealing with the rest of the Axis of Evil?
WASHINGTON (Kyodo) The U.S. military is considering allowing regional combatant commanders to request presidential approval for pre-emptive nuclear strikes against possible attacks with weapons of mass destruction on the United States or its allies, according to a draft nuclear operations paper.

Democrats are wrong about everything
Sat Mar 12, 2005 at 10:00:52 AM PDT
Have you heard the latest Noise Machine talking point? Bush's triumph in the Middle East has proved Democrats wrong. Liberals have been wrong about every single issue in modern history. Why do they keep trying to ruin America?
From Ann Coulter's current column:
In an editorial last week, The New York Times gave President Bush credit for democracy sweeping through the Middle East or, as the Times put it, "a year of heartening surprises." Yes, the Middle East's current democratization would come as quite a surprise to anyone who puts his hands over his ears and hums during the president's speeches.
Rolling Stone magazine is making fun of "moveon.org" for having no contact with normal Americans. Their Bush-hating cause has become so hopeless that moveon.org is on the verge of actually moving on.
