Bill.  He could have taken the high, self-serving road and told those assembled why he was late.  He could also have taken the low, "finger-pointing" road and flailed Senator McCain for being one of 22 Republicans voting against our men and women in uniform.

  Instead, he did neither.

While most of us here (including myself) seem to be preoccupied by the
Obama/Clinton rivalry, we should not get distracted from and forget who the
real adversary is, namely the person who has more seriously hurt our
country than any U.S. citizen in history, George W. Bush. I just came
across the following link on the recent book on the cost of the war,
and it will probably be of interest to those of you who might want for a time to
get distracted from the Democratic family infighting that we seem to
be having and get even more depressed by the realities of bush.

I had another idea for an Obama advertisement that I wish would
run. The add would, Jon Stewart Bush-vs.-Bush style, pair the Hillary
Clinton of 2008 running against the young Bill Clinton of 1992.

I was browsing around the internet looking for updated costs of the war (since I was personally effected by these costs very recently) and came across a new book that is about to be released by the same authors that calculated the war costs several years ago to be one trillion dollars. I am still searching for the "What's so funny" video from truthandhope.org in 2004 that has Lieberman laughing at bush's jokes about not finding WMDs. I found a collection of videos that are cached from 2004 here (truthandhope.org seems to be shut off).

Please look at all the videos (they are all good, and it is interesting to get a 2004 perspective now, only 1200 casualties for example, bush saying there will be no draft, bush telling Pat Robertson that there will be no U.S. casualties in Iraq, etc.!!).

And, if you happen to have a cached copy of the "what's so funny" video, the version that also shows Lieberman laughing, please please let me know by responding to this diary.

Basically, we need to use the phone to call undecided voters to help give them the reasons to vote Kerry (not everyone reads the Internet, but we can use the Internet to help reach out to those who have yet to adopt our technology).

It is important that we do not act like extremists, as many of these voters are very torn between Kerry and Bush (for some reason), so we can't just say "Bush is an criminal idiot, vote Kerry" even though it is true.

I was watching Raiders of the Lost Arc recently on TV after having not
seen it for many many years. The lead female role Marion Ravenwood
(played by actor Karen Allen) said something that was quite odd, but
that not very long ago seemed quite normal. Basically, she was in the
middle of being kidnapped by a group of Arabic people, and she yelled
out something like "but stop, I'm an American". I actually remember
years ago thinking, when traveling abroad, that being and telling
people you were an American gave you sort of an immunity against
harm. These days, I find it shocking that someone would say such a
thing is such a situation. Now, when I travel abroad, I'm anxious to
even show my American passport.

In sum: Thank bush for destroying American respect and credibility
world-wide!!
